The scenographer and lighting designer Jan Versweyveld (1958) trained at the Brussels Sint Lucas Institute and at the Royal Academy in Antwerp. In the 1980s, together with Ivo van Hove, he was one of the founders of the Flemish theater groups Akt/Vertikaal and Toneelproducties De Tijd, where they were among the most notable theater makers in the Low Countries. In 1990, Jan Versweyveld became permanent scenographer at the Zuidelijk Toneel in Eindhoven. He exchanged this position in 2001 for head of scenography and house designer of Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Here he worked on Angels in America, Cries and Whispers, Rocco and his brothers, Antonioni project, La voix humaine, Teorema, Summer Trilogy, Roman tragedies, Opening Night, Children of the Sun, Macbeth, The Russians!, Husbands, Lange, among others. day's journey into night, Danton's death, The Fountainhead and Maria Stuart.
