This special oil painting on canvas from 1952, signed Jan Sierhuis, with much more information on the back and framed in an original simple wooden frame from the same period.
Jan Sierhuis is primarily an expressionist painter, inspired by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, van Gogh and Picasso, among others. In his younger years he painted naturalistic landscapes. In the fifties and sixties he worked almost exclusively - figurative - abstract for some time.
Sierhuis has exhibited his work in museums and galleries in the Netherlands, France, Mexico, Argentina, Switzerland, Netherlands Antilles, Colombia, Ireland, United States, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Poland and Japan.
