Born in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1909, Hans Erni passed away in March 2015 at the ripe old age of 105. In 1927 he studied at the Lucerne School of Arts and Crafts and then briefly attended the Académie Julian in Paris.
In the 1930s, Erni became interested in contemporary French painting and joined the Abstraction Creation group, which exhibited with great artists of that generation. He received commissions for several important frescoes and from the 1960s his prolific output included important stamp designs for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In 1979, the Hans Erni Museum in Lucerne was inaugurated and since then he has been considered a national pride by his Swiss contemporaries.
The work is in excellent condition. The glass plate has a small damage at the right edge.
This one doesn't stand out; see pictures.
