Product description
Beautiful, abstract, "Graphic Melody", digital art by artist, sculptor, painter and graphic artist, Georges Frank de Cuzey, created in 1981. Starting off in metal sculptures, he soon moved towards sculpture animated by random movements and oval shapes, and conceived the idea of his "piano to draw" ("piano dessin") principle, developing and creating a mechanical apparatus called the "Piadess" drawing piano, an instrument to create graphic works, "which is to graphics, what the piano is, to sounds, to music." This piece is believed to be one of his earliest, in a series of what he called "Graphic Melodies", made from the keys of the Piadess "keyboard", producing an "infinity" of straight, spherical, oval, black and white lines on a black background, moire prints, where "movement is perpetually present." (see photos.) The piece was printed on some form of plastic material. On the front, in the bottom, left hand corner, it is signed "FRANK de CUZEY" (see photos.) On the back, it is dated "le 30. 12. 81", and signed with a dedication, and at the bottom, left hand corner, there is a sticker that says "Hommage à FANTIN-LETOUR par FRANK de Cuzey." It is also noted as "Oeuvre N° 0 200" (see photos), indicating this was the earliest version, out of 200 made. The print itself, is in very good original and vintage condition, with extremely light signs of age commensurate with time. Some light marks and signs of age and previous use on the original frame and matte (see photos), both of which can be replaced or changed, if desired. Please note: the attributes on the back of the print, are only visible by the backing from the frame.) All photos taken in natural light, so colors may vary based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed. Actual dimensions framed: H: 52.5 cm x W: 52.3 cm x D: 3.5 cm
