Vintage 19th century. Materials: bronze. Mantel in patinated bronze Ad.Mougin two medals. Napoleon 3. 19th century. Made in France. 1880. Genuine patinated bronze mantel set composed of a clock and two 4-light candelabras. Complete Napoleon 3 period set in very good, functional condition. The clock has a Paris movement stamped Ad.Mougin Deux médailles, one of the 3 best manufacturers of the period. "Adolphe Mougin ( 1848-1928), clockmaker from Héricourt, was awarded a bronze medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889, followed by a silver medal in 1900. He was well known, working in the mid-to-late 19th century. He is known to have made clocks in the French watchmaking region of Montbéliard (which is close to the Swiss border) and is also listed as having premises in the Rue de Turenne in Paris. He won two gold medals at exhibitions for his clocks and used them as the basis for his trademark which contains the "Deux Médailles". This mark can usually be found stamped on the back of his clocks." The movement is complete and working, and the front features a magnificent enameled dial with Roman numerals and chased bronze medallion. The dial and mechanism are protected by beveled glass. The clock strikes the half-hour and hour. The key is present. Height 37 cm. Width 20 cm. Depth 12 cm. The clock is accompanied by 2 candelabras with 4 lights, each with its own smother. Height 40 cm.
