Product description
The Carlton bookcase, an emblematic creation by Memphis Milano, was designed in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass. Despite its deconstructed appearance, this imposing colored totem is cleverly balanced and can be used as a room divider. The colored laminate panels are assembled like a house of cards, forming a tribute to instability. The Carlton shelf features two sliding drawers and rests on a thick rectangular base speckled with black and white. Memphis Milano, a group of Milanese designers led by Ettore Sottsass, revolutionized the world of design in the 1980s with their bold, colorful approach, introducing new shapes, materials and patterns. Their work continues to inspire designers the world over. Ettore Sottsass, known for his innovative approach to design, also created the Treetops floor lamp, which combines functionality and aesthetics in a bold and surprising way.
