This figurine was designed and created by well-known Dutch visual artist Leon Veerman. This sculpture belongs to the series Symbiosis, of which only 5 pieces were made. The idea behind this bronze sculpture, according to the artist, is that two structures of material make each other stronger to both parties' advantage. Especially this combination of smooth with rough material appealed to me. I purchased the sculpture around 2010 through the art buying site Artolive.
