DESIGN BARKRUK JAMAICA STOOL PEPE CORTES A true design icon; this stylish bar stool designed in 1993 by one of Spain's most renowned designers, Pepe Cortés. It is type Jamaica, Amat 3, manufacturer Knoll. This barstool has a lively and slender design that still remains sturdy and functional. Made of polished cast aluminum with a swivel seat, base with 5 legs and a ring as a footrest. A real eye-catcher for the kitchen or at the bar. Pepe Cortés studied interior design at the Eina Design School in his native Barcelona before founding the multidisciplinary design firm Grupo Abierto de Diseno (Open Design Group). As founder of the company, he designed award-winning retail spaces, office interiors, restaurants and furniture. From 1984-1988, he served on the board of the FAD (Fomento de las Artes Decorativas), a cultural institution dedicated to the celebration and promotion of Spanish design. Cortes was awarded the FAD Jury / Opinion Award in 1983, 1991, 2003 and 2007. Cortes' relationship with Knoll began in 1993 with the introduction of the Jamaica Stool.
