Gianfranco FRATTINI Over the course of his career, he designed numerous pieces of furniture, some of which are still hugely successful today. The Boalum lamp he designed with Livio Castiglioni in 1969 is certainly one of his most famous pieces. He is also known for his mastery of wood. Biography Gianfranco Frattini was born in Italy in 1926. He studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, where he graduated in 1953. He met Gio Ponti, with whom he began his first collaboration. The famous designer became his teacher and mentor. Frattini founded his own design firm after he found that the choice of lighting and furniture was too limited for him.
