Hita Kogei: World-class Furniture Art Hita Kogei is known as one of the most renowned furniture factories vam Japan. Their attention to craftsmanship and attention to detail can be felt and seen in every stage of the production process, from design and construction to material selection. The quality of the furniture they produce is comparable to, or even better than, high-end Scandinavian designer furniture. The use of high-quality teak wood with a fine texture due to intensive processing invites you to touch and caress it. The frame design, with its gentle curves and clean lines, makes the furniture beautiful to look at from every angle. Hita Kogei's chairs are special in terms of size; they are slightly wider and lower than Scandinavian chairs, making them perfect for use at the now-popular Danish vintage tables. History and Influence Hita Kogei, based in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, gained fame in the 1970s as a Japanese manufacturer representing the Scandinavian style. Although furniture production has since ceased after half a century, the furniture remains very popular in the Japanese vintage market. This type of chair in particular is hailed as the epitome of Modern Japanese Design and a high point in locally produced teak furniture. In recent years, appreciation for these exclusive chairs has risen sharply due to the popularity of Mid - Century Design. Hita Kogei exported very little, in Japan her furniture has also remained very exclsuive due to production in small series, but rarely does a set of 4 chairs reach the market in Europe, this is why these chairs are extremely rare to find in our part of the world. A Legacy to Pass On Hita Kogei is known as the creators of the pinnacle of Japanese furniture art. The furniture is not only items to cherish, but also to pass on to future generations. It is clear why Hita Kogei is such a prominent name in the world of design and craftsmanship when you take a closer look at these chairs in real life in a photograph. About this set of 4 chairs This set of 4 chairs was recently made ready for a new life in our workshop with the utmost care and respect for their history and appearance. They were already purchased as design objects in the mid-1990s by an older Dutch couple for their then home in Japan. Halfway through the last decade, the set came with them to the Netherlands to now be passed on to a new generation of enthusiasts. The wood has been completely cleaned and given a new protective coating and is again beautifully deep in color. The upholstery executed in genuine leather and in an aubergine/brown hue is still completely original and supple, completely cleaned and has an attractive patina that only genuine vintage leather can exhibit. A rare acquisition for true Design lovers who would like to add an exclusive set of chairs to their interiors.
