He graduated from the University of Aarhus in 2004. He worked as a freelance industrial designer for several years before founding Thygesen & Sorensen with Jonas Søndergaard Nielsen. Jonas Søndergaard Nielsen was born in 1981 in Aalborg, Denmark. He studied industrial design at Aalborg University, graduating in 2008. He worked for several industrial design companies before founding Thygesen & Sorensen with Sune Thygesen. Since founding their studio, Thygesen & Sorensen have designed products for brands such as Muuto, Hay, Normann Copenhagen and Ferm Living. Their work is characterized by simple, functional design, with particular attention to detail. Their products are often inspired by Nordic nature and culture. In 2017, Thygesen & Sorensen won the Industrial Design Award from the Danish Museum of Art and Design for their "Sling" chair. They were also named Designer of the Year at the Formland design fair in 2018.
