Gunni Omann began his career in the family business, which had been making furniture since 1919. He worked as a cabinetmaker before turning to furniture design in the 1950s. In 1953, he set up his own company, Omann Jun Møbelfabrik, which produced a wide variety of teak furniture, including sideboards, tables and chairs. Omann Jun's furniture was known for its elegant simplicity and clever use of solid wood. His designs were influenced by Danish and Scandinavian craft traditions, as well as by the ideas of the modern design movement. Omann Jun's furniture has been widely distributed in Europe and North America, and has won numerous awards and distinctions for its quality and innovative design. Although Omann Jun's furniture production ceased in the 1970s, his designs are still highly sought-after today. Gunni Omann is considered one of the great names of modern Danish design, and his work continues to inspire designers and design enthusiasts the world over.
