Kaare Klint's creations are recognizable by their simple curves, clean lines and noble materials such as Cuban mahogany. The "Safari" armchair is one of her flagship pieces. It has inspired designers the world over! Kaare Klint was born in Denmark in 1888. He studied painting at Frederiksberg Polytechnic, then architecture and design at Copenhagen Technical School. In 1920, Klint founded his own design and architecture firm. Four years later, he founded the Furniture Department of the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. Parallel to his career as an architect and designer, Kaare Klint taught at the Copenhagen Academy of Fine Arts. Klint systematized a human-centered approach that formed the bedrock of Danish modernism. He set standards for construction and created a certain rationalization of storage. Without him, Danish design would not be what it is today.
