A prolific designer, he created over a hundred lamps during his lifetime. The Nova, Classic, Tunika, Saturn and Diskos models designed in the 1960s are Johannes Hammerborg's best-known creations. Johannes Hammerborg was born in Denmark in 1920. After his first apprenticeship as a goldsmith in the early '40s, he entered the renowned Royal Danish Academy of Applied Arts. In 1957, he became artistic director of Fog & Morup. His talent made a major contribution to the company's growth and renown. He brought a fresh artistic eye to all aspects of the business: showroom, advertising, packaging, design... He met designers such as Holmegaard and Jacob E. Bang, with whom he enjoys collaborating on various lamp designs. He received a number of awards, including the first CICi prize in 1965 and four IF Product Design Awards in 1969. After his departure in 1980, Fog & Morup encountered many difficulties and had no choice but to close down.
