Anna Castelli Ferrieri uses metal, plastic and polyurethane to create furniture collections. These were innovative and ambitious choices for their time! She created many iconic pieces of furniture for Kartell, such as the "Componibili Tondi" (1969) and "Componibili Quadrati" (1967) pedestals. Anna Castelli Ferrieri was born in Italy in 1920. She studied at the Milan Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1943. An admirer of the work of Le Corbusier and Franco Albini, the young designer soon turned her attention to the design of pure furniture. She worked with leading Italian architects on ambitious projects such as the reconstruction of Milan. In 1946, she set up her own studio and wrote for the architectural magazines Casabella Construction and Architectural Design. Anna Castelli Ferrieri marries Giulio Castelli, head of the famous Kartell furniture company. She designs numerous pieces of plastic furniture for the brand. Winner of three Compasso d'Oro awards, Anna Castelli Ferrieri is one of those great names in design who left their mark on twentieth-century furniture.
