She worked as an interior designer for the Danish company Georg Jensen, where she was responsible for the design of numerous products, including cutlery, kitchen utensils, lamps and jewelry. She also worked for the renowned Danish textile company, Kvadrat, where she designed fabrics for curtains and seating. In 1977, Noomi Backhausen opened her own design studio, where she continued to work on interior and product design projects for clients such as the Fritz Hansen furniture company and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. She is known for her minimalist, functionalist approach to design, and her use of high-quality, sustainable materials. Noomi Backhausen has won numerous awards for her work, including the Danish Design Prize in 1985 and the Swedish Design Prize in 1993. Her creations have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and she is considered one of the leading Danish designers of her generation.
