At 90 cm in diameter, this is a giant spotlight. (Wine bottle in one of the pictures is for scale indication) This floodlight dates back to the 1950s and was used in the former Czechoslovakia at a military airfield to signal the planes on the runway.
The spotlight has been completely restored. Literally every screw has been loosened and every part has been treated with great attention. Initially, all steel parts were de-rusted and repaired where necessary after which the spotlight was given a heat treatment with a flame. This treatment gives it that unique dark anthracite/blue color, in which you can still see hints of magenta and green depending on the angle at which the light falls on it. Then the lamp was preserved with a 2 component transparent matte lacquer. The cast aluminum parts have been de-lacquered, brushed and polished which gives a nice contrast to the dark steel. The base of the spotlight, the handles and levers are covered with buffalo leather to enhance the aviation theme. Small details such as the black cord with braided sheath and the trumpet-shaped pull release made of cast aluminum complete the look. The spotlight has a 6-watt LED light source.
Not only because of its size is it a striking appearance. But its finish, many unique details and vintage feel make it the centerpiece in any interior and a guaranteed conversation starter.
