Wonderful Soft Pad Chair EA 217 by Charles & Ray Eames for Vitra. This is the model version in brown leather. The back is covered with Plano fabric, also in brown. The side profiles, armrests, clamps and base are made of die-cast aluminum, powder-coated. This version of the chair is no longer available to order.
The Soft Pad Chair is height-adjustable, swivels and has a tilt mechanism. It is in exceptionally good condition with slight signs of use typical of its age, which you can see from the extensive product images. The chair has been thoroughly cleaned and has a manufacturer's certificate from Vitra. The gas pressure spring is intact.
The Soft Pad Chairs were designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1969 and are considered one of the most important designs of the 20th century. They are similar in construction and shape to the aluminum chairs, but are softer and more voluptuous and adapt to the body. The chair is ideal as an office chair for prestigious offices or the stylish home office.
