Antique apothecary cabinet from an Amsterdam mansion, more is not known. Wide 1.79cm, high 92cm, deep 49cm. We are no experts, but think the cabinet is well over a hundred years old. See for example the hand carved dovetail joints in the drawers.
About ten years ago we bought the cabinet over, it had been moved once by then. We cleaned the cabinet thoroughly respecting the patina. After a lot of manual labor, beautiful copper handles came out from under a thick layer of oxidation. Also treated against woodworm just to be sure. Then provided with a good antique wax. In a few places, knots were once filled with a rather light-colored filler. We would have handled that differently, but they are old repairs so we left them that way.
In our new house, unfortunately, we don't have a nice spot for the cabinet. It is now in the attic. Not in the way there, but doesn't really have a function either. Bummer.
We like to sell the cabinet to an enthusiast. Does not go away as a bargain, please do not respond. New (pine) replicas are easy to find and already cost over €1000. Original cabinets of this model are rare.
