Exceptionally large original oil painting work by Buchner! Born in 1856 in Germany, Buchner enjoyed painting from an early age and it is likely that he studied in Paris, although he spent most of his life in Munich. Buchner, along with such esteemed contemporaries as Reggianini, Ricci and Soulacroix, concentrated on portraying images of the pure luxury of the last century. Taste and elegance were central to the pictorial reinterpretation of the era, and conversation pieces such as this example were an ideal vehicle for showing elegant elements in opulent settings. This painting shows a beautiful setting of fruits and poultry ready to serve as a banquet. pay particular attention to all the details and see the hand of a master. On auction sites in USA and UK, much smaller works (half the size) by Buchner are sold for between 4000 and 6000 euros. I haven't come across a work of his in this size anywhere. The painting was restored several years ago. It is in decent condition considering its age, it has some damage spots in the corners and some stains and a repaired tear (all done by a licensed restorer) at the top a piece of the canvas is loose from the frame, but all in all still a very nice eye catcher. Of course the painting may be viewed before purchasing. The grandfather of the owner once bought it in the 30's from an artist in Germany (probably from hans buchner himself) size inc frame 111 wide 92 high size ex frame 91 wide 72 high
