Product description
Lithograph/graphic "Arcades" by Theo Kuijpers from 2003. Signed and numbered (26 of 50). Includes frame H69 x W57cm. About Theo Kuijpers Theo Kuijpers is a well-known painter, collagist, sculptor and graphic artist. He attended the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. He did his military service from 1962 to 1963 in Suriname. Back in Brabant, he incorporated impressions of South America into his paintings. To this day, his work often begins with a trip (to Morocco, Australia, Italy, France, Iceland and many other countries) to then reproduce in form and color on canvas what remains in his head and heart as the essence of his impressions. Initially, he was a material artist in the vein of Tapiès. Thus, in display cases with pig's bladder, lead, wood and other materials, he captured his memories of his origins from a farming family in Mierlo, solidified into art. Although over the years he has developed more and more into an abstract painter, he has remained a constructivist. Not only is his handwriting often reminiscent of architecture, by using tent canvas, rope and branches in addition to paint, he also shows himself to be a "builder" of paintings. Work by Theo Kuijpers is included in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, the Museum van Bommel van Dam, Venlo, the Singer Museum, Laren, the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem, the Museum of Modern Art, Arnhem, among others, the North Brabant Museum, Den Bosch, Museum Het Valkhof, Nijmegen, the Stedelijk Museum, Schiedam, the Rijksmuseum Twenthe and private and institutional collections at home and abroad, including the collections of ABNAMRO, AXA, RABO Nederland, Akzo Nobel and many others. Several publications have appeared about Theo Kuijpers and his work.
