Presenting "The Garden and the Burning House" by Wolfgang Hutter, a mesmerizing giclée print from 2014, now available for sale. This medium-sized artwork, measuring 46.5 x 61.0 cm (image size: 38.5 x 55 cm), features a surreal landscape in earthy warm colors, showcasing a house on a mountain. The centrifugal composition focuses on the burning house, creating a powerful narrative, while the soft, rounded shapes of the trees and clouds add a touch of romanticism to the overall image.
Hand-signed and labeled e.a., this piece exemplifies Hutter's unique and imaginative style. Born in 1928 in Vienna and passing away in 2014, Wolfgang Hutter was a painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, and stage designer, and is considered a co-founder of the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism. His visual language is characterized by artificial paradises of gardens and fantastical scenes, influenced by Surrealism and psychedelic experiences. Hutter was taught by his father, painter Albert Paris Gütersloh, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
Hutter's work first gained recognition at the "Great Austrian Art Exhibition" in the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1947. As a founding member of the Art Club, he contributed to the 1948 exhibition in Vienna's Zedlitzhalle, where the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism began to manifest, alongside artists like Ernst Fuchs and Rudolf Hausner.
