Step into the rich history of Czech glass design with Skrdlovice Glassworks. Founded in 1942 in Skrdlovice, Czechoslovakia by Emanuel Beranek, the company quickly made a name for itself with its exceptional glass designs. Beranek and his brothers, Vlasta Lichtagova and Milena Veliskova, were the driving force behind the early designs, with Beranek's sons, Jindrich and Jan, joining the company in the 1950s.
Despite being nationalized by the Communists in 1948, Skrdlovice continued to flourish with a talented roster of glass designers throughout the decades. From the 1950s through the 2000s, the company produced a wide range of Czech glass designs, including those created under the watchful eye of chief designers Miloslava Svobodova, Frantisek Vizner, and Jaroslav Svoboda.
All of Skrdlovice's glass pieces were meticulously crafted by hand at the furnace, a process known as "hutni sklo" in Czech. This dedication to craftsmanship is evident in this stunning large design glass vase by Beranek Skrdlovice.
Measuring approximately 29 cm in height and with upper dimensions of 17.5 cm x 7.5 cm, this vase boasts a shimmering yellow-green colour that will catch the light beautifully in any space.
