Paul Turkry (Antwerp, 1944) trained in drawing, painting and graphic design at the Royal Academy and the Royal National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Professionally, he was a teacher and later director of the Academy for Visual Education in Heist-op-den-Berg. From the moment Turkry takes his first lessons at the Antwerp Academy, he immediately becomes acquainted with the Antwerp jazz world which, literally around the corner, is amply present.
