Rare early version PH5 Pendant Lamp designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, Denmark. Designed in 1959. The design of the lamp on the inside diffuses the light. This copy is a very early model (around 1960), identifiable by a different mechanism to position the bulb in the PH5. The special fixture with a spring was intended to adjust the placement of the bulb to accommodate different types and sizes of bulbs. Poul Henningsen devised this system to ensure that the bulb always sat in the correct position at the bottom of the lamp for the intended air diffusion, regardless of the diameter of the bulb.
