Hans Wap always creates his images in a certain order. First of all, Wap paints an abstract image. He then adds human figures to the composition. The figures in the paintings are somewhat more pronounced than before. The abstract image has in fact become autonomous. The use of coincidence cannot be called coincidence. After the human figure is added, a landscape is created, the abstraction has become figuration.
Wap is known for his screen prints with images with an anecdotal character, such as that of a cartoon. The performances are as absurd as a storm in a teacup. The proportions are often out of whack: a sailboat crashes into a kitchen table, or an airplane crashes into the leg of a chair. In this period the performance has an anecdotal character, like that of a cartoon. Cleanly drawn and flawless in color.
