Product description
Fine art print 30.5 x 30.5 cm | Eames chairs in the picture.
At the home of Tapio Wirkkala and Rut Brykin, 1954
Wirkkala was an extremely versatile designer. He not only designed furniture, but also jewelry and even glassware. The materials he used for his products varied from glass to plywood to ceramics. Characteristic of Wirkkala was his use of the puukko.
This is a traditional Finnish knife, which he used for his precision carving designs. During his time as a designer, Wirkkala has collaborated with companies such as Finlandia Vodka and Iittala. For both brands he used a design that looks like frozen raindrops are running down. This is clearly visible in the beautiful Iittala Ultima Thule glass set that he designed for Iittala .
