Product description
An impressive handmade coffee table with acid-etched copper top, designed in the style of German designer Heinz Lilienthal (1927 - 2006) in 1970.
The table top has an acid-etched relief/texture strongly reminiscent of Lilienthal's craftsmanship and recognizable style, and stands on an impressive and well-made three-shaped solid teak base. Lilienthal was a well-known successful German designer. He experimented with various materials, including glass, metal, wood, copper, natural stone and concrete. He created windows, mosaics, wall decorations, tables and furniture. His designs used acid etching and hand patination to create vivid textured landscapes on steel and copper plates and sheets.
This particular table has no obvious signature or mark, but is very similar to some of his earlier works, and is at least a beautiful table in its own right. It is in good vintage condition with some light stains on the top and bottom, appropriate for its age.
