Product description
Craftsmanship, history and design come together in a beautiful eye-catcher for your desk. Height: 48 cm. Width: 16 cm. Depth: 25 cm. The lamp is marked at the bottom: "W.A.S. BENSON". The lamp has the original bayonet fitting. Bayonet lamps are easily available online. Origin: Great Britain, 1920s. Material: glass, brass. All our lamps are suitable for led bulbs. William Arthur Smith Benson originally studied Classics and Philosophy at Oxford, but after graduation he decided he would be more suited to architecture, combining art and engineering. Benson began metalworking and set up his own workshop where he created and sold new designs specializing in lighting. By 1900, Benson had reached his peak. In Paris, Benson's lamps were exhibited at Siegfrield Bing's gallery "Maison L'art Nouveau."
