Product description
Beautiful porcelain (flower) pot by Dutch artist Maria ten Kortenaar. This work is called "Mindgames" and was designed by her in 2008. The special thing is that the outside is unglazed and the inside is glazed. This gives a beautiful effect. This art object is in impeccable condition with no damages or stains. Please see the photos for this. Signed at the bottom by artist. Nerikomi technique was used for this pot in limoge porcelain. The only 2 designs offered (as far as I can find) are in England at Kellie Miller Arts gallery. There are no more I can find. They are mostly in private collections. This particular pot is a treat for the eyes. The dimensions approx: Height: 15 cm Diameter: 18 cm Weight: 795 grams (0.795 kg) About the artist: "Maria Ten Kortenaar trained as a goldsmith at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 1985 she obtained the master's mark as a silver and goldsmith. In 1995, however, she chose the art of ceramics to be able to do more with color. Initially she worked mostly with clay, but since 2005 she has worked only with porcelain. Ten Kortenaar uses an inlay technique with colored porcelain that is unique by Western standards, closely related to the Japanese nerikomi technique. The objects are assembled in wafer-thin parts entirely by hand and stacked into objects that are ostensibly painted, but in fact consist of differently colored particles of fragile porcelain. She herself sees her work as a translation of what she calls "fragile emotions," where the story she wants to tell with it is contained in the title of the object. She has won awards all over the world and her work is in museums in Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan and the Netherlands, among others. Her work is also in numerous international private collections. She exhibits her work worldwide and is particularly popular in Asia as well. She won the Special Prize at the 5th World Ceramic Biennale in Korea. Her work is included in the collections of the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum in New Taipei in Taiwan and the Icheon World Ceramic Center in Icheon in Korea, among others."
