About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This porcelain tea service was designed by Luigi Colani for the German manufacturer Friesland. The set is a remarkable example of Colani's biodynamic design philosophy, combining organic forms with a futuristic aesthetic, and bears the iconic model name "Zen". Made in Germany from high-quality porcelain, the service features a deep black glaze that emphasizes its flowing, sculptural lines. It is a complete set for six people, consisting of a teapot with a matching warmer, six teacups with saucers, a milk jug, and a sugar bowl. The design is inspired by the architecture of Japanese temples, which is reflected in its harmonious and balanced silhouette. The tea service is in very good overall condition, indicating careful handling. The glossy surface is well preserved and shows its original luster. As a complete set, it is a coveted collector's item for lovers of Space Age design and a testament to design history. With its distinctive character, this service is not only functional tableware but also an expressive design object. It blends seamlessly into modern or minimalist interiors and adds an elegant accent to any dining table or sideboard.
