Product description
Hand-Carved Wooden Tribal Mask – Marka Style – 59 cm / 2.00 kg – Exclusive African Wall Decoration Specifications: H 59 × W 18.5 cm | Weight: 2.00 kg (Solid, substantial hardwood) | Traditional Marka Iconography | Artfully Hollowed Back
We proudly present a powerful, monumental, and purely handmade piece of tribal art: a hand-carved wooden mask, crafted in the traditional iconographic style of the Marka tribe from Mali (West Africa). With an impressive height of 59 cm and a solid, massive weight of no less than 2.00 kg, this sculpture represents a substantial and high-quality eye-catcher from the 20th century. A magnificent and bold example of traditional African wood carving.
**Crafted Texture & Geometric Accent Lines**
This wooden mask excels with its stylized, elongated proportions and immediately brings a warm, richly textured, and brutalist atmosphere to any modern or high-end interior:
**Stylized Animal Headdress:** The top of the forehead is crowned with a monumental, abstract animal headdress featuring upright horns, characteristic of Marka iconography. The surrounding edges are adorned with a finely hand-carved scale and stippling texture.
**Polychrome Contrasts:** The slit eyes, the prominent eyebrow area, the geometric diamond on the bridge of the nose, and the deep contour of the gaping mouth are accented with a deep black pigment layer that beautifully contrasts with the medium-brown hardwood.
**Authentic Adze Marks:** The back provides irrefutable proof of pure hand craftsmanship. The inside of the bowl is deeply carved millimeter by millimeter with a traditional gouge or adze, leaving a beautiful and tangible scale pattern in the dry wood.
