Danish pendant lamp called Facet designed by Louis Weisdorf in 1963. This lamp was put into production by Lyfa in 1966. The lamp shows most clearly how extraordinary Louis Weisdorf's lighting designs were at the time. It consists of 18 identical metal elements that each fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. The shape of these elements creates a cylinder where the light shines through the openings and the colors of the inside become visible. This example concerns an early version of the Facet lamp where gold color was used on the outside and two shades of orange on the inside. Because of this, production costs were (too) high and an alternative was soon sought. This came in the form of the Facet Pop where both the inside and outside were the same, namely 3 shades of the same color. After the merger with Fog & Mørup, the production of this lamp was also stopped. Both the Facet Pop and to a higher degree the Facet lamp itself are coveted and very hard to find these days. This specimen is in nice vintage condition with slight signs of use here and there that are hardly noticeable.
