The Vitra Soft Pad Chair EA 217 is a design by Charles & Ray Eames. The construction and silhouette of the Soft Pad Chair is similar to the design of the chairs from the Aluminum Group. The difference is in the Soft Pad Chair's sewn-on cushions. This makes the Soft Pad Chairs softer than the chairs from the Aluminum Group, but both chair types have a sleek appearance. Designed in 1969, the Soft Pad Chair has since become a true classic that will compliment many a home office or conference room.
The Soft Pad Chair's comfortable cushions contrast nicely with the chair's elegant aluminum frame. They make the Soft Pad Chair's look softer and friendly without compromising the chair's quiet lines. Both the two sewn-on cushions of the medium backrest and the seat cushion have polyurethane foam padding with a leather cover. The side and cross profiles are made of die-cast aluminum with a polished finish. The swivel base with four legs has the same finish as the chair's frame.

Premium leather is a relatively smooth cowhide leather with a flat grain and a slight sheen. It is fully colored with light pigments. The semi-aniline leather is soft to the touch.
