Gert is a Dutch artist and self-taught. He is inspired by Egon Schiele, Jackson Pollock, Fernando Botero, Auguste Rodin, Marc Chagall, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Hendrik Willem Mesdag, Karel Appel, Kees van Dongen and Toon Laurense.
Like all of Gert's works, 'News' was created with music as a source of inspiration. News' is the short version of the line 'Let's skip the news boy' from the song 'Blood on the rooftops' by the legendary symphonic rock band Genesis.
