Temple horse decorated with stamped brass ornaments, solid wood body, brass or bronze head.
These horses, often called "temple toys", would have been mounted on boards with small wheels and were offerings to the gods, deposited in the temple.
North India, early 20th century.
In good condition, normal oxidation marks (greyish patina).
Provenance: Estate of collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
Sold with certificate of provenance.
