Product description
Spectacular dressing table designed by the Italian house DBM, following the aesthetic canons of the Space Age, to which is added a great imprint of Art Deco, from which it takes inspiration from geometric shapes, especially curves, which are the shapes that star in this construction site. Large piece, made of off-white lacquered wood and consisting of a horizontal base designed for storage with two drawers on each side and a black marble-effect fiberglass top with grayish veins and a large circular mirror on top. . The silhouette of the base is illuminated with a futuristic effect, even from below, towards the feet of the furniture.
The color white is closely linked to Op Art, a movement also closely related to the Space Age. On one of the sides there is the manufacturer's plate. It is a very sophisticated and glamorous piece, common in works of this style, with a clear scenic component.
The Space Age
It follows the aesthetic canons of the Space Age style, a style that has returned with a vengeance and is part of current trends in interior design and decoration. The “Space Age” occurred between the late 1950s and early 1970s. It is based on the idea of an optimistic world after the success of atomic energy and space travel.
This style has as its aesthetic inspiration the North American space race and everything that has to do with outer space such as space satellites, helmets, ships, the effect of weightlessness and an optimistic proposal for a new futuristic lifestyle. The sphere is adopted as the main morphological reference, as we see in the design of this piece, referring to satellites or space helmets. Aerospace engineers influenced design and architecture through the adaptability of the materials they created for flight. This aesthetic had influence in all fields of design: architecture, industrial products, interiors, clothing, graphics, textiles, etc... and also on great designers.
