Maneki-neko or "welcoming cat", protection and fortune, carved and polychromed wood, glass eyes, finely executed expression. Japan, Edo period, circa 1850. The representation of the subject is atypical and original, as both legs are raised. The left ear is missing. H 48 CM X D 22 CM X W 23 CM.
