Product description
From private collection, lithograph 3/500.
Pietro studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he graduated in painting in 1954. He began his exhibition activity in 1954, participated in the Milan Biennale in 1955 and 1957, in the drawing and engraving exhibition in Reggio Emilia in 1957, in the two salons of the Italian Association of Engravers in 1956 and 1959. He was awarded on the Second Biennale of Sacred Art at the Angelicum in Milan in 1955, at the Diomira in Milan in 1955, at the Monza National Exhibition in 1956, at the IX Melzo Art Exhibition in 1956, at the Milan Art Exhibition and Convito in 1957 and the painting prize of Monticelli Brusati (Brescia) in 1967.[5]
After that he mainly exhibited solo in public spaces, in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, France, USA, Japan).
As a technique he prefers watercolor, as an engraver, etching, pure or combined with aquatint. His sign is essential, stern and clear. The subjects of his virtuoso perfectionism range from an initial lyrical realism to the realm of fantastic and visionary art, cultivating a dreamy and subtly ironic nocturnal dimension, with some echoes of eroticism: symbolic musings that yield neither to surrealistic taste nor to disturbing nightmares. In this regard, the series Da Garcia Lorca, Monsters, Castles, Woman and Horses, Fantastic Castles, Torture are particularly important, in addition to the Six Engravings for Peace of 1975 (Holy Year) and other sheets of radiant serenity.
