Product description
A beautiful pair of Chinese porcelain vases in the Green Family style, made during the Republic period. The Republic of China (1912-1949) was founded after the overthrow of the Qing dynasty, the last imperial dynasty, during the Xinhai Revolution. It occupied the territories of modern China, claiming territory in Mongolia, Tibet, Taiwan and small areas of Southeast Asia, northern India, western Central Asia and southern Siberia. The base bears a six-character mark from the Republic period.
Both pieces have an elegant rectangular shape, tapering slightly towards the base. The neck and mouthpiece are circular in cross-section. The ornamental motifs are a variety of flowers and birds in what appears to be a marsh. The background is water-green. Around the base, a decorative border follows a geometric pattern.
Porcelain of the green family was developed during the Qing dynasty, more precisely during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1661-1722). This type of porcelain is characterized by a rich palette of colors, with green predominating, accompanied by other bright colors such as red, yellow, blue and violet. It is decorated with glazes over a layer of white glaze, making the colors more intense and brilliant. The decoration is meticulous and detailed, reflecting the technical and artistic skills of the craftsmen of the period. It is prized by collectors for its beauty and complexity of execution. It is an evolution of the earlier style known as wucai (five colors), and its perfection during the Kangxi period marked a high point in Chinese porcelain production.
This pair is perfect for decorating any room in the house, whether on a shelf, console or sideboard, or in a corner of the room with flowers inside, they'll bring a unique and original touch to your home!
